On May 18th, Cecilia was honored to perform the US Premiere of Thomas Sleeper’s “Comhrá” for cello and orchestra with Florida Youth Orchestra conducted by the composer himself. The work was dedicated to Dr. Russell Young, beloved former voice faculty member at the University of Miami who passed away recently. The program also included soloist Dale Underwood.
As Cecilia graduates this May, the University of Miami has awarded her with “Outstanding Doctoral Student at the Frost School of Music for 2014”! She received this award based on the recommendation of faculty and administration, due to her exceptional performance as a doctoral student and citizen of the Frost School. This award is indeed an honor, as the Frost School only selects one recipient each year from the graduating class of doctoral students.
